HAPPY FATHER'S DAY 2009

killdeer

this is a baby killdeer bird that the girls chased down and decided to keep for a pet. (It only lasted for 2 days and was buried in our yard-there were tears shed and they learned a lesson about how fragile birds are and that they are best just to look at and not to touch)

climbing the walls

the last day of school was May 29-this picture is taken 1 week later. I need to think of some things for them to do I guess.

recap of the vegas weekend by Carrie

We had soooo much fun getting together over memorial day weekend in Las Vegas. Jamie and Kay and Mom flew in from Montana on friday night and met up with me at the airport. Shane came to pick us up and we giggled and laughed all the way to his house talking about Jamies embarrassing moments of driving away with the gas hose still in her car and ripping it off the pump, her see through swim suit and the game of "who stole the reeses peanut butter cup" on a trucking trip.

We stayed up late talking until 3am Pacific time, 6am east coast time so I stayed up all night! Aunt Mary, Mindy, Polly and Levi arrived around 4:30 am.

Saturday morning we all went to the Alliente Casino for a Breakfast Buffett. Shane, Levi and the kids came with us before leaving for Ceder city on a camping trip. Jaycee wanted to make sure that we had a true girls weekend so we had the house all to ourselves. We all said our good byes to Levi, he will be leaving for Mogolia next week for 2 years with the Peace Corps. It was great to see him again, he was full of lots of hugs and smiles.

We spent the afternoon shopping, swimming, laughing and getting ready for our big night out on the town. We went to see "La Reve" which was really spectacular full of dancing, acrobatics, and aquatic productions.
Sunday, we packed a lunch and headed to the hills for a picnic at Red Rock National Park. This was a neat and unique place to enjoy the "red" rock mountains. We split up and took a short hike climbing the rocks and posing for a photo shoot. It was pretty hot so we headed back home for more swimming and sunshine by the backyard pool.
Mom packed half of her suitcase full of scrapbook supplies for us to make some cute cards and picture cubes. We enjoyed talking about old times traveling in the red ford in the back with the camper shell, our dumpster diving excurtions in Moscow and about Mindys upcoming new book "Popsicles for Breakfast". We are also so excited for Polly and Tim's baby boy that is due in September. I vote for the name Ross. When you are in good company the conversations are endearing and memorable and ended somewhere around 1am.
Wow, it's Monday already! Aunt Mary, Mindy and Polly left early to get on the road and head home to Denver. After more pictures and good-bye hugs Jaycee, Jamie, Kay and I hit the road for our first 10K run.Jaycee and Jamie kept up a great pace together and finished at 57 minutes and I came in at 1hour 4 minutes. Kay ran her first 5k with flying colors. We all felt great and Kay and I soon realized that due to our lack of prep the sore muscles set in quickly unlike the fit J's. We came home and JUMPED into the pool. We spent a few hours perfecting the pike, toe touch and underwater handstands. One last buffett and then off to the airport.
Leaving the Men in charge of the kids, laughing with tears, sacrificing sleep for girl talk, spending time with our favorite big girls.
PRICELESS!!!!
